BOSTON ? A team of researchers in Boston have found that the after effects of prostate cancer treatments can be felt in more ways than one long after the cures have been stopped.
Not only is receiving the news of having prostate cancer a terrible blow to take for many men, but treatments can lead to impotence and a smaller penis afterwards.

According to the researchers, these after effects can be devastating to a man and cause severe psychological damage.
The study began after men complained about a noticeable smaller penis and the impact it had on their sex lives after they were treated for prostate cancer.
The study revealed that removing of the prostate damaged the nerves and tissue required to have an erection with some men. The end result for those men was a smaller penis. A treatment consisting of radiation and hormone therapy could produce similar results.
The Dana-Farber/Brigham Cancer Center in Boston conducted the study and interrogated 948 men who were treated for prostate cancer; 22 percent of them were less than 60 years old.
About 51 percent of the participants had opted to have their prostate removed while 24 percent chose radiation and hormone treatments. 22 percent chose only radiation treatments.
25 men ended up with a smaller penis after their treatments. Only the group of men who opted for just radiation treatments had the same penis size before and after treatments.
Doctors suspect however that more men are experience penis related problems after prostate cancer treatment but aren?t addressing the issue.
